The Armadillo Exhibition Center in England

This is one of the main attractions of Glasgow, located on the grounds of the Scottish Exhibition and Convention Center. This fantastic structure was built in 1997 by the famous architect Norman Foster. The three-storey building is a venue for international congresses, conferences and business meetings, as well as all kinds of exhibitions and cultural and entertainment events.

Because of the outlandish appearance of the people, the building was nicknamed The Armadillo, which translates as “Battleship”. Over the years, the name stuck, so in 2017 the building, until then known as the Clyde Auditorium, officially changed its name.

It all began in the mid-90s of the last century, when the eminent construction company Foster and Partners received an order to build a house in addition to the Scottish Exhibition Center. The head of this firm was the world famous architect Norman Foster, who made a name for himself with projects such as the Reichstag in Berlin, the Millennium Bridge in London, and so on. All of his creations were renowned for their unique designs, and the Clyde Auditorium was no exception.

The grand opening of the unusual building took place in 1997. Glittering in the sun with its aluminum plates, it is instantly loved by locals and tourists alike, and has become a symbol of cultural Glasgow.
